Susan “Gomie” Keefe passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 5th, following a brief illness. A true Irish lass to the end, Gomie pulled one last Irish goodbye.
The beloved daughter of James F. McAndrew and Helen Smyth McAndrew, Susan was the eldest of five siblings: Helen (Dominic) DiSandro, Jane (Michael) Hutton, Jim (Annie) McAndrew, and Kate (Walter) Haas.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Larry; four children, Susan Seiler, Bob (Emily) Keefe, Amy Keefe, and Collin (Holly) Keefe; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Born at St. Agnes Hospital in South Philadelphia, Susan attended St. Ambrose Elementary School and graduated from Little Flower High School in 1959. Shortly after marrying in 1962, Susan and Larry relocated to Lake Mohawk, Sparta, New Jersey, where they raised their four children. During those years, Susan worked as a preschool teacher at the Engle School. In the late 1980s, they returned to Pennsylvania, settling in Hilltown.
Susan was gregarious and affable, delighting in hosting family and friends for any and all occasions. She possessed a quick wit and was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage, with a deep love for Irish music. She cherished her winters in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, where she and Larry founded the beachside community’s infamous St. Patrick’s Day Parade 25 years ago.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 100 Broad Street, Hilltown, PA 18927.
