We are sad to announce the passing of Robert F. Bethell of Philadelphia, PA. Robert died of natural causes at the age of 81 on December 3, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.Robert was born on August 28, 1941 to Robert and Catherine Bethell (Sweeney) in Philadelphia, PA. He was a 1959 graduate of North Catholic High School.After graduating, he started as an overnight clerk at A&P Supermarket and continued for the next 46 years in the supermarket industry, spending most of his time as store manager at various locations across the Delaware Valley. His career spanned A&P, Super Fresh, Thriftway and ended upon his retirement from McCaffrey's Food Market in Princeton, NJ.In 1963 he married Lorraine Bethell (Krupiak) in Philadelphia, PA. They would go on to be married for 59 years. Robert and Lorraine have two children, Jessica Barsocchi (Bethell) and Courtney McGlone (Bethell)Robert retired in 2005 and spent most of his time with his two passions: his family and golf. He would golf most days, frequently at Juniata Golf Course in Philadelphia. His remaining time was spent with his wife, where they would frequently visit Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. He also enjoyed rooting on the Philadelphia sports teams, most notably the Phillies. Robert had a soft baritone voice, which he liked to display while being accompanied on guitar by his grandson Aidan.Robert was predeceased by his parents Catherine and Robert and his brother Dennis (Suzan). He is survived by his wife Lorraine, his daughters Jessica (Gene) and Courtney (Jeffrey), sisters Colleen Healy (Jim), Lisa Finley (Jerry) and grandchildren Clare, Aidan and Noah.Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday December 10th beginning 9:30 AM in St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 5600 Jackson Street, Philadelphia PA 19124, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
