Maureen P. Merrigan (nee Kane) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the age of 79. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Merrigan, devoted mother of Colleen P. (Kenneth) Lawson and Brian Merrigan; and loving grandmom to Brendan Lawson.In addition to her children and grandchild, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Jane Kane and Rosemary Kane. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Stephen Kane, Angela Sobocynski and Dennis Kane.Maureen was born October 22, 1943 in Philadelphia. She was the daughter of the late Carroll Aloysius and Alma Marie (Stokley) Kane. As a child, she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish and was a 1961 graduate of Little Flower High School. She was married April 11, 1970 and resided in the Northeast section of Philadelphia where she raised her family. Maureen was a devout Catholic and was a longtime parishioner at Saint Katherine of Siena Church. She worked for many years at ITE/Sun East Federal Credit Union where she made long lasting friendships. She was a kind, generous, humble, loving, wife, mother and friend. She loved being at home with her family, spending time with her neighbors and visiting with her brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews from the Kane and Merrigan families.Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM and Monday 9 AM to 10 AM at Burns Funeral Home 9708 Frankford Ave. Funeral Mass will be held Monday 10:30 AM St. Katherine of Siena Church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Maureen's name may be made to St. Katherine of Siena Parish, 9700 Frankford Avenue Philadelphia, Pa 19114.
