Lorraine Karen Shannon (née Smithers)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Karen Shannon, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who left this world surrounded by love and family on May 22, 2025.

Lorraine was the loving mother of Timothy (Melissa), Kristi Rispo, and Megan Kosmalski (Edward). She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Matthew Rispo, Jacob Kosmalski, Abigail Kosmalski, Sophia Welsh, Marcella Welsh, and Liam Welsh, and the delighted great-grandmother of Marko and Vito Rispo.

She was the beloved sister of James Smithers (Olga), Robert Smithers (Cheryl) and the late William Smithers (late Kathleen), and the late Patricia Swipes.  Lorraine is also fondly remembered by many cherished nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her immense joy throughout her life.

Lorraine’s warmth, generosity, and quiet strength defined her relationships and left a lasting imprint on all who knew her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her kind heart, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and cared for, along with the love and dedication she had for her pets.

A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held on Saturday May 31st from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in Mother of Divine Grace Church 2918 E. Thompson Street, Philadelphia. Lorraine’s funeral mass will begin 10:30 AM and her burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with loved ones who passed before her.
