Kathleen Cunningham

CUNNINGHAM
Kathleen J. (Lewis) on August 27th, 2022, age 73, of Philadelphia.
Wife of Joseph E. Cunningham. Beloved Mother of Ken (Dawn) and Rose. She was the loving grandmother of 5 grandchildren, Steven, Maria, David, Kasey, and Abigail.
She was devoted to her many cousins, extended family members, and a friend to anyone who ever met her.
She was actually better known to her grandchildren and many others as "Tic-Tock", a nick name given to her by her eldest grandson Steven when he was a child.
Early in her childhood she was a resident of St. Vincent's Orphanage in Tacony before being moved to St. Edmunds Home for Children in Bryn Mawr where she resided until she was a teenager. After leaving St. Edmunds,
she returned to her native Fishtown to live on her own where she worked at Columbia Dye Works as a textile machine operator. After getting married to her husband Joseph at Holy Name Parish and becoming a mother, she also later worked at Marshall Elementary School as a Special Education Aide before leaving to become a homemaker residing in Frankford.
In her later years she became a volunteer at Liberty Resources in Center City where she she was very active in advocating for disability rights and pride. Despite having cerebral palsy, she was actually well traveled and made trips to Israel, Jamaica, Mexico, and across the United States.
Her determination in life was to do and see as much as she could and you could never break that spirit in her.
A great source of pride for her was that both of her children attended Catholic Schools. She would always keep many people in her prayers and was always a great source of inspiration for others. Kathy has truly has truly touched and changed the lives of multiple people in her lifetime. She loved all people and her greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday September 7th from 9:30 AM to 11 AM at McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations 6126 Torresdale avenue. Her funeral service will begin 11 AM and her interment will follow in North Cedar Hill Cemetery. Please share your fondest memories of Kathleen at PhillyFunerals.com
