In Loving Memory of Joyce Brown Serfass
Joyce Brown Serfass, born April 29, 1941, passed away on June 24, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Joyce was strong, honest, witty, caring, and unapologetically herself. She had a gift for seeing the good in people and never hesitated to speak her mind. Those who knew her wouldn’t have wanted her any other way.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading, drawing, people-watching, listening to music, an ice-cold Pepsi, and a Marlboro Red, while waving to neighbors and chatting with anyone who passed by. Joyce never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She also had a legendary appetite, always ready for another helping, another story, and another laugh.
Above all, Joyce loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Gomez and Madeline Kahn; her brother, Ronnie; her first husband, Ernest Brown; her beloved second husband, Charles “Chuck” Serfass; her daughter, Lynne; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Joe, Scott (Betty Ann), Paul (Brian), and Tom (Kim); her grandchildren, Kyle (Karli), Danny, Christopher, Madison, Sydney (Jesse), Emma, Phalen (Eric), Ian, and Tyler; her great-grandchildren, Jay, Luke, Kyle, Kody, Carlin, and Julian; along with many extended family members, dear friends, neighbors, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Joyce’s laughter, honesty, warmth, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the stories we share, the music she loved, and the hearts of all who loved her.
