James Hurley Milligan

James Hurley Milligan was born November 17,1970 and passed away suddenly on August 10, 2022. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, teammate, neighbor and friend to many. He was kind, gentle, ever curious and incredibly funny. He said things as they were and he saw people as they were. He loved so enormously and fiercely, he looked at life with wonder. Everywhere he went he made lasting meaningful relationships with those around him and his memory will be carried by all those whose lives he touched. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph and Rita (Hurley) Milligan. He is survived by his four siblings, Joseph, (Peg) Milligan, nephews, Quinn, Shea and God-son Cole, Steve (Ann Marie) Milligan, nephews, Jack and Conor, Lisa (Milligan) (Steve) Buffardi, his niece and God-daughter Madison and nephew Steven Joseph, Todd (Jamie) Milligan, nephews Norrin, Toby and niece, Ani. Jimmy will be missed by his extended family of uncles and cousins which include Uncle Jim (Aunt Deenie) Milligan, Loretta and Jimmy Milligan, the entire Brierley, Tobin, Holmes, Barr, Sigmund and the rest of Milligan family cousins. Finally, he also leaves behind his Keystone Street family, Auntie Rita Randolph, Grandmom, Nicht, Shaniya, Kelli, Shonda and Tykeria along with the entire block of neighbors, Jimmy was beloved by and loved back just as strong. He is also mourned by our cousin and his mentor Ralph Conte along with the entire USPS Bulk Mail center family for whom he lived and work alongside for 22 years. His passion and intensity was evident in the way he played soccer. As the goalkeeper for the men's soccer program at Holy Family University, he led the team to the Keystone Athletic Conference (KAC) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) District 19 championships. In his two years at Holy Family, James compiled a record of 29-5-2 with a GAA of 0.63 and 21 career shutouts. He garnered All-KAC and NAIA District 19 team honors in both years. James currently holds the top two spots for the single season record for shutouts and the first and fourth spots for single season record for goals against average. He holds the career records for lowest GAA and most shutouts at Holy Family.A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 29th from 5-7pm at:McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations, Inc. 6126 Torresdale Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19135In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to:Holy Family University, Men's, Soccer Teamc/o Tim Hamill, Athletic Director,Holy Family University,9801 Frankford Avenue, Campus Center - AthleticsPhiladelphia, PA 19114The Autism Cares Foundation, or The Joshua Tree National Park Fund.
