Eric James Torpey
Eric James Michael Torpey passed away on May 31, 2021 at the age of 46 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 18, 1975 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Michael Torpey and Dora Torpey. The eldest of three boys, Eric was an example and role model to younger brothers Jeffrey and Keith. He was the eldest of 17 grandchildren to the late Peter and Martha Makropoulos. He was one of 4 grandchildren to the late William and Lorretta Torpey. Eric is survived by spouse Laura Flanagan, his four children Natalie (23), Shannon (18), Lillian (9) and Harrison (7), former spouse Megan Carr, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Eric was passionate about his family and experiencing the most he could in life. He earned his Associates and Bachelor's degrees while working full-time. For many years, Eric played in men's baseball leagues and was an umpire for the local Rec league. In recent years, horse racing became an interest that led to trips to the Kentucky Derby and Florida races. Impromptu trips to the airport to watch the plane's takeoff or a local cultural festivals were used for entertainment. He was not shy, especially when it came to praising and loving his children.
Perhaps Eric was born in the wrong era, as Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra could often be heard around the house. Classic movie posters were framed along his walls. His storytelling ability, unique style, sense of humor, and infectious spirit of joy will be missed by family and friends.
You are asked to wear color instead of black to honor Eric's life. Services will take place at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Thursday June 3rd
(225 Bellevue Ave. Penndel, PA 19047 -215-757-7700) where his viewing will be held from 9:30AM to 10:45AM and his funeral mass will begin at 11AM.
Eric's luncheon will follow at Bensalem Country Club from 12:30-4:30PM
