Elaine Gallo

Elaine Irene Gallo, AKA "Mama G," 76 of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away September 13, 2020. She was born to the late Alexander and Irene Uhniat on April 22, 1944 in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. Elaine graduated from Cardinal Dougherty Catholic High School. She was widowed by Joseph Gallo Jr. and is survived by her daughter Alayna Gallo. She is also survived by her five siblings: Arlene Schultz (Martin Sr.), Alan Uhniat (Maureen), Lynn Ryan (Neal), Mark Uhniat (Rose Angela) and Eileen McGinnis (Michael), as well as 11 nieces and nephews including her godchildren Martin Schultz Jr. (Kelly) and Colleen Uhniat-Haigh (Norman III.), 11 great nieces and nephews and grandpuppy Pickles (Gallo). Elaine was a medical assistant for over 35 years. She was a natural born caretaker to many. Her heart was bigger than she was, and she enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. Her natural born humor was funnier than most sitcoms. Elaine loved going to her daughter's theatrical productions, traveling and spending time with her siblings and family. Her legacy and humor will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she knew. Elaine would want everyone to slow down and take a moment to think about a laugh you shared with her. Elaine would also want us all to remember to hold your family and friends close to your heart as love and laughter is the humanity that binds us through the years, and those memories are what comforts us in times of loss. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday September 25th from 9:30AM to 10:30AM in St. Timothy's Church 3001 Levick Street, Philadelphia PA.
