Deborah Maloney

Deborah Ann Maloney (nee Mertz), age 67, of Bensalem, PA, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Born on November 18, 1957 in Philadelphia to the late Harry Mertz and Dolores Jones, Deborah was the beloved wife of the late John Maloney and a devoted mother to Larry Leister (wife, Jennifer) and Michael Leister (wife, Amber).

She shared a special motherly bond with her niece, Leslie Scanlon (husband, John), and loved Leslie's children —Brieanna (and her children, Liam and Brooklyn Mauro), Keira, Payten, and Johnny-like her own grandchildren.

She was a proud grandmother to Tayler, Jayecob, Alison, Cayden, Addison, and Landon, and a doting great-grandmother to Bennett Leister. Deborah is also survived by her brothers Roger, Joey, and Gary Mertz, and is preceded in death by her brother Chrissy Mertz. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially the many nieces, nephews, and extended family she held dear.

Deborah was known for her endless love for her family and her warm, caring heart. She never missed a chance to remind her children, "I love you to the moon and back," words they will carry with them always. She had a lively personality-full of sass, warmth, and an endless love for good conversation. She delighted in celebrating life's big and small moments, especially birthdays/holidays and her deep devotion to family remains her greatest legacy.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Deborah’s life at her viewing and funeral on Saturday September 20th from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations 2614 Orthodox Street. Funeral service will begin 10:30 AM and her burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
