Catherine “Cass” Malak peacefully passed away on April 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She is the beloved mother of Donald (Josie), Doris (Danny), Joseph (Kristen), Michael (Chrissy), and the late Edward.
Catherine was cherished as a loving Baba by her grandchildren Kerri, Jocelyn, Sabrina, Julia, Tyler, Luke, Courteney, Eddie, Ruby, and her great-grandchildren Rylie, Harmony, and Eli. She was also a dear sister to John, Frank, Joe and the late Dorothy Goss, Mary Contrevo, and Eleanor Phillips.
Family and friends are invited to her viewing which will be held on Monday, April 15th, starting at 9:30 AM at the Slabinski Funeral Home, located at 2614 Orthodox Street. Her funeral service will begin at 11 AM, followed by interment in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Bridesburg.
Cass was a pillar of strength and a hard worker in her community. For nearly three decades, she faithfully delivered the Daily News to 110 households in Fishtown, regardless of the weather or obstacles. Her dedication earned her the admiration and gratitude of her neighbors, who relied on her unwavering reliability.
To Cass, delivering newspapers was more than just a job—it was a calling, a way to connect and unite her community. Her commitment to spreading knowledge and fostering unity made her a beloved figure in Fishtown. Cass's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
